It was due to this experience that I bought Yaeger's Home Study Course, which ended up helping me to succeed in all three sections with great results.
The Yaeger website makes bold claims as they allege the pass rate is 88%. Dr. Phil Yaeger has helped candidates prepare for the exam since 1977. Dr. Yaeger and his experienced team offers something that none of their competitors are currently offering: an "Instructors Hotline" (an 800 number) that people can phone to ask questions about the course material or about the CPA exam in general. I made regular calls to this hotline and have spoken to very patient lecturers (including Dr. Yaeger himself on a few occasions) who never ended the call until I had no further questions.
An advantage with the Yaeger system is they placed emphasis on materials with a high probability of showing up on the exam. Similarly, they would tell students to focus more on doing sample questions that have the highest chances of showing up in the actual exam.
Also worth a mention are Yaeger's cram DVDs which could be responsible for adding between 5 to 15 points to your exam scores. These cram DVDs are aimed at identifying the candidates least strong areas and adding strength to those areas right before the exam. Even candidates that are using another CPA review course can benefit from these cram DVDs by using them as supplementary, last-minute study materials.
This also includes lecture videos they record annually. Thus, the candidate can be confident that they are learning from the most current information.
The cost of the Yaeger products surpised me as it is less than other CPA exam review courses - despite better quality than many. Overall, I am delighted with the Yaeger CPA review course as helped me gain success with the CPA exam.
